Virginia Tech Student Club

Volunteer listeners at Virginia Tech.

The Who Am I Project relies on volunteer listeners — people who show up with curiosity, patience, and a genuine desire to hear another person's story. Many of those volunteers are Virginia Tech undergraduates, often students on pre-health tracks, who participate through the university's student club. For them, the club is a place to practice what good care actually looks like: being present, asking open questions, and letting someone else's life take center stage. In addition to listening events, there are multiple service events in the planning phase including student-led game night and fingernail-painting.

A club with its own voice.

We are an undergraduate volunteer listening club, often including students on pre-health tracks, who gather as peers to practice the principles of The Who Am I Project by listening closely to residents’ stories. We hold our own meetings, share announcements, and are guided by undergraduate student leaders, all centered on learning to be present, curious, and person-centered in ways we can carry into future careers and use to imagine better ways of caring for people.
